HDP: Gezi is a collective movement of hope

ANKARA - HDP declared a press statement regarding the 7th anniversary of Gezi Park resistance, calling the resistance as a "collective movement of hope".

In the 7th year of the Gezi Park resistance, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) declared a statement to celebrate and honor the resistance. As Gezi is described as a "collective movement of hope", HDP shared the following statements:

"AKP gave the response of violence for the people, who peacefully protested and showed a civil disobedience to protect Gezi Parkı and to stop the slaughter of the trees, which belonged to the public, not to toe private interest. This series of violence took 11 of our people and injured thousands of people. As the despotism of the government increased, it created a spirit of resistance, which began to spread unprecendently all over the country."

HOPE IS SOMETHING TO BE PLANTED

The ones, whom we lost will not be forgotten. Hope is something that can be planted and then to be harvested. We, the volks, the others, the ones who learn by their struggle and kenad this sturggle with their own labour and great prices know what it means to come together under the shade of a tree and of course the political power has no idea what this means. Tree means the language of life for us since the Gezi. Millions have spoken to this language and they will speak it again.

THE CONDITIONS HAVE NOT CHANGED

As you already know, the conditions, which caused and underlied the resistance have not changed. The need to grow the struggle for the democracy, peace and equality have increased, let alone to decrease, because the government have only increased injustice, tension, polarization, violence, conflict and unlawfullness. As state declared a war against its own citizens and turned this into a daily rituel applied on the streets of the country, we, those who continue to resist and struggle with dignity keep not staying silent. Against all the attacks of a government which is politically corrupt and morally blind, we continue to declare that the waters, the airs, the trees, the rivers and the life belongs to all of us. From the Nurhak to the Gezi we remember and honor all those valuable friends of ourse, whom we lost in the struggle of peace and democracy."
