ANKARA – Lawmakers serving on the parliamentary National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission have traveled to Ireland to examine the experiences of the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and the United Kingdom as part of the ongoing Peace and Democratic Society Process.
The delegation, invited by the London-based Democratic Progress Institute (DPI), traveled to Dublin to conduct on-site observations and meetings.
Among the participants were Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party Parliamentary Group Deputy Chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit, Celal Fırat, Justice and Development Party (AKP) MP Abdurrahman Babacan, Republican People Party (CHP) MPs Sezgin Tanrıkulu and Oğuz Kaan Salcı, and representatives from the New Path (Yeni Yol) Group Mehmet Emin Ekmen, Mustafa Bilici, and Bülent Kaya.
No representatives from the Turkish Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) took part in the visit.
