ISTANBUL - Stating that Abdullah Öcalan's freedom is directly linked to the political solution of the Kurdish issue, Sinan Onal said that many events will be held in Europen countries on 4 April. 

 

This year's Newroz was celebrated by millions of people in Kurdistan, Turkey and Europe with the slogan "Democratic Society for Freedom". The historic call of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan on 27 February was embraced in the fileds. 

 

 

Sinan Onal, one of the spokespersons of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, democratic solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign, which continues its activities in Europe, made evaluations about the Newroz celebrations.

 

Onal stated that for Kurds, Newroz is resistance and struggle and said, "Kurds defined this year's Newroz as 'the dawn of freedom of the Kurdish people's resurrection and freedom struggle' and celebrated it in this way. After Leader Apo's 'Call for Peace and Democratic Society' to the peoples of Kurdistan, the Middle East and the world, great discussions and hopes were born. Newroz was celebrated by the Kurdish people in all four parts of Kurdistan in line with this call, as if signalling the days of freedom."

 

Reminding that after Kurdistan, Newroz was also celebrated in Cologne and Frankfurt in Germany with the call of Kurdish parties, Onal stated that Kurds and their friends in Europe embraced Abdullah Öcalan's call. Stating that a distinctive feature of this year's Newroz was that the demand for national unity came to the fore, Onal said: "While the Kurdish people's demand for national unity came to the fore, at the same time Newroz was celebrated as a referendum on democratic free unity with nations. The Newroz in Europe was also welcomed as a referendum on the Kurds' approval of President Apo's call for a new era of struggle. In Europe, the speeches of Kurdish spokespersons as well as Kurdish friends left their mark."

 

FREEDOM WAS SHOUTED

 

Stating that Abdullah Öcalan's physical freedom was shouted out strongly from the Newroz areas, Onal also noted that the demand for peace came to the fore. 

 

"The call made by Mr Öcalan on 27 February concerns all the peoples of the world and all the peoples of the Middle East. For this reason, Mr Öcalan's security, working and living conditions in free conditions must be created. The legal, political and legal grounds for this need to be realised. This demand was strongly voiced in the fields. Mr Öcalan's call was received positively all over the world. Kurds have embraced this call even though they do not trust Turkey," he said. 

 

EVENTS TO BE HELD ON 4 APRIL

 

Stating that Abdullah Öcalan's freedom is directly linked to the political solution of the Kurdish issue, Onal added, "On 4 April, many events will be held in Europe under the leadership of the Kurdish women's movement and the youth movement. Now there is light at the end of the tunnel. Everyone needs to approach the work with this hope and reality and raise the struggle. We are living through a period of very historical moments. In parallel with these developments, people need to be hopeful for the realisation of freedom as soon as possible in the way it is deserved. Everyone should participate in the work with this hope."
