RIHA - Speaking at the vigil that started at the Pirsûs-Kobanê border, “Turkey is targeting life in Rojava. As the Kurdish people, we cannot accept the attack on Rojava. We will also protect the life there,” says Mehmet Öcalan, brother of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The vigil started in Pirsûs (Suruç) district of Riha (Urfa), located on the border with Kobanê, against the attacks on North and East Syria continues on its 4th day. The vigil started under the leadership of Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) and Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA) was attended by PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan's brother Mehmet Öcalan, DEM Party Riha MP Ferit Şenyaşar, DEM Party and DBP Riha, Dîlok (Antep), Amed (Diyarbakır) Provincial and District Organizations, TJA activists, members of Riha Peace Mothers Assembly and many people. The vigil continues with Kurdish songs and halay songs and the support of the citizens continues.
In the statement made here, the banner “Rojava Rûmeta me ye (Rojava is our honour)” was unfurled and the photographs of journalists Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin, who were killed by Turkish drones, and the banners “Rojava is our red line” were carried.
'WE WILL PROTECT ROJAVA'
Mehmet Öcalan, brother of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, underlined that Turkey is trying to attack the Autonomous Administration by making excuses and said; “We call on Turkey; not even a bullet has come from Rojava to Turkey. Turkey wants to eliminate the peoples there. Turkey is targeting the common life there. As the Kurdish people, we cannot accept the attack on Rojava. People of many identities live together in Rojava. Kurdish issue must be solved democratically. We will protect the life there. If Turkey wants a solution, it must firs find a solution to the Kurdish issue."
The statement ended with applause and slogans “Kobane has not fallen, it will not fall”.
