ANKARA - Commenting on the disarmament, DEM Party MPs emphasised the need for Parliament to take an active role in finding a solution.

Following Abdullah Öcalan's new video call broadcast on 9 July, a group of guerrillas held a weapons disposal ceremony in Şikefta Casenê (Jasana Cave) in the countryside of Sulaymaniyah on 11 July.
The Peace and Democratic Society Group, led by KCK Executive Council Co-chair Besê Hozat, consisted of a total of 30 people. After the images that caused a great repercussion all over the world, all eyes turned to the steps to be taken by the state regarding the requirements of the process.
Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party MPs Özgül Saki, Sümeyye Boz and Ömer Faruk Hülakü and DEM Party Centre Executive Committee member Yüksel Mutlu evaluated the weapon destruction images.
DEM Party members described the destruction of the weapons as a "historic step" and stated that the Parliament should take an active role in the solution.
DEM Party members also demanded the recognition of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's right to hope and the freedom of political prisoners.
