IZMIR - Following its attacks in Northern and Eastern Syria and Iraq, ISIS murdered 139 people in Russia. Journalist Cihan Bilgin said that ISIS wants to return to its pre-2015 position with attacks.
ISIS, which has become increasingly weak after its defeat in the city of Kobanê in Northern and Eastern Syria in 2015, is on the world's agenda again with new attacks. ISIS attacked the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Moscow, Russia's capital, on March 22 and killed 139 people, including 3 children. 182 people were injured in the attack.
With the latest incident, ISIS attacks have once again been on the public agenda. ISIS has increased its attacks, especially in recent months. ISIS murdered at least 195 people in the Syrian deserts between February and March. In early March, it attacked people collecting desert mushrooms in the Northern and Eastern Syrian city of Raqqa and killed 2 people. ISIS's attacks and mobility are not limited to this; It has also carried out many attacks against the Iraqi army in recent months.
'TURKEY IS USING ISIS AS A PAWN'
Journalist Cihan Bilgin evaluated the recent increased ISIS activity and attacks. Stating that ISIS is trying to gather power again, Bilgin reminded the statements made by the Syrian Democratic Forces (QSD) about ISIS at this point.
Stating that international forces did not take any serious steps despite the statements of QSD, Bilgin said: "ISIS is encouraged by this. This approach of international forces creates more space for ISIS to operate and they can organize and go to other parts of the world. The attack in Moscow also shows that international forces are taking control of ISIS. It reveals that you don't want it to end."
Noting that some forces use ISIS as a pawn, Bilgin said: "Turkey does this the most. It was announced that the ISIS members captured in Moscow left from Turkey. This revealed that ISIS was the spokesperson of Turkey. The Kobanê war and Northern and Eastern Syria ISIS's relationship with Turkey has been documented in the ongoing occupation attacks in Turkey. There are many ISIS members within the FSA. They are specially trained in the occupied areas."
'THE ATTACK NOT A COINCIDENCE'
Stating that ISIS aims to return to its power and position before 2015, Bilgin said: "Turkey is planning an invasion in Northern and Eastern Syria, especially in the Tel Rifat region. With this attack in Moscow, Turkey wants to blackmail Russia. Because it does not want to attack these places. It needs to get approval from Russia for this. There was going to be an Erdogan-Putin meeting recently, but this meeting was postponed. Turkey has become closer to the USA, which upset the balance. I think the attack could be blackmail."
'A GREAT DANGER'
Pointing out that the Northern and Eastern Syrian Autonomous Administration's daily operations against ISIS continue, Bilgin reminded the comprehensive operations launched against ISIS recently. Bilgin used the following statements: "ISIS wants to settle in regions such as Deir Al-Zor, Raqqa and Tabqa. However, this is prevented by operations carried out by YAT and HAT. In recent operations, a senior executive was arrested. The struggle is a situation that only concerns Northern and Eastern Syria It is not. The whole world needs to intervene in this. It became clear in the Moscow attack that ISIS threatens the whole world. If this is tolerated, Turkey will also be encouraged. They already have Ottoman plans. They want to do this with ISIS and the gangs in the regions they occupy. A great danger awaits us all. There is also this danger for Europe."
