AMED - A lawsuit was filed against 4 prisoners on charges of "membership of a terrorist organization" due to the protests they participated in against the rights violations in Bafra Prison, the faxes they sent to relevant institutions and the news published about these in the press.

A lawsuit was filed against 4 prisoners staying in Samsun Bafra T-Type High Security Prison. Reasons for litigation; The protests they participated in against the rights violations between 2012 and 2019, the information faxes they sent to the relevant official institutions and non-governmental organizations regarding the situation, the news published in the press and the press statements.
 
An investigation was launched by the Samsun Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the prisoners named Serbest Suleyman, Ercan Yakut, Lezhat Degirmenci and Mehmet Yıldırım.
 
While the investigation was continuing, although Lezhat Degirmenci and Mehmet Yıldırım were released because they completed their sentences, an indictment was prepared against 4 people accusing them of "membership in a terrorist organization".
 
The majority of the 49-page indictment was devoted to the history of the PKK, the stages of change it went through and the organization's prison structures. It was claimed that the prisoners acted in accordance with the "instructions of the terrorist organization" in the actions they were accused of.
 
With the indictment accepted by Samsun 2nd High Criminal Court, imprisonment of 7 to 15 years is requested for 4 people.
