ANKARA - Women continued their hunger strike action, which has entered its 5th day, at the DEM Party Ankara Provincial Organization building.
The hunger strike launched in prisons to demand PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan's physical freedom continues. The hunger strike action launched in the Ankara Provincial Organization of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) in support of the prisoners is on its 5th day.
Kadriye Ozğan, who is on hunger strike, said: "Today, we are on hunger strike as women and mothers." Ozğan, who wanted the isolation on the prisoners and PKK Leader Ocalan to be abolished, said: They have taken Selahattin Demirtaş, Gültan Kışanak and all our politicians as hostages. We do not accept this. This isolation has been carried out on our leader (Ocalan) for 25 years. They do not allow him to see his family or his lawyers. If the isolation is abolished, the isolation on both Kurds and Turks will be abolished.”
Özğan said: "As a guerrilla mother, as a Mother for Peace, we want the blood of neither the children of the Turks nor the children of the Kurds to be shed. No one should be martyred. I also make a call to military mothers; let's lend a hand to each other, let's make peace. If there is to be peace, it will happen with both sides.”
Today's action was carried out only by women. It was learned that the action will end tomorrow.
