İldem, who was released after 30 years: Let's create our unity

MÊRDÎN - Ramazan İldem, a 30-year prisoner who was held in Bafra Type T Closed Prison and whose execution was postponed for 3 months, came to his hometown Mêrdîn after his release. İldem said: “Let's organize ourselves more and more every day. Let's create our unity." 
 
Ramazan İldem, who was detained and arrested in the Qoser (Kızıltepe) district of Mêrdîn in July 1993 and whose release was postponed by the Prison Administration and Observation Board (IGK) while he was expected to be released in July, was released yesterday from Bafra Type T Closed Prison where he was held. İldem, who went to Istanbul after his release, arrived in his hometown Mêrdîn by air in the morning. İldem; In front of Mardin Airport, the crowd, including the Association for Assistance with Detainees and Convict Families (TUHAY-DER), Green Left Party Mêrdîn MP Beritan Güneş Altın, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) provincial and district administrators, accompanied by drums and pipes. İldem was welcomed with halay dances.
 
Speaking at the welcome in front of the airport, İldem said: “I want this welcome not to stop only here. Our expectation is that we will organize ourselves more and more every day. Let's create our union. Let's make our duty a success with great love. Cruelty exists outside as well as in prison. Our friends sometimes have to go without shoes when they go to the hospital. We are all under isolation, just like our Leader. For this reason, let's fight our own struggle for our society, for our organization, for our struggle, and let's all do our job."
 
İldem then went to his mother's house in Qoser district with the accompanying delegation.
 
8 PRISONS IN 30 YEARS
 
İldem, who was detained and arrested in Qoser in July 1993, when he was only 22 years old, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Diyarbakır State Security Court (DGM), where he was tried, on the charge of "Disrupting the Unity and Integrity of the State". İldem was first held in prison in Mêrdîn, and then he was held in Bartın, Amed, Yozgat, Mêrdîn, Erzirom, Bartın and Bafra prisons, respectively. The release of Ildem, who was expected to be released on July 4, was postponed by being burned days before his release.
