VAN - Mevlüt Kaplan's application to the court, who was dismissed by a decree, was rejected on the grounds of a lawsuit filed against his brother.

Mevlüt Kaplan, who works in Van Water Sewerage Works (VASKI) Directorate, was dismissed on January 10, 2017 by a Decree Law (Decree). Kaplan was dismissed on grounds that he was affiliated with 'a terrorist oganization'. Kaplan applied to the State of Emergency Comission to be reinstated. Commission denied his request on grounds that there is a law suit filed against his brother.

Kaplan then applied to the Ankara 24th Administrative Court on grounds of "violation of constitutional and international treaty rights" and "procedure for dismissal from civil service". The court also rejected his application. The court rejected the application on grounds that there is a law suit filed against Kaplan's brother for 'being a member of a terrorist organization' and 'propagandizing a terrorist organization'.

Kaplan filed an appeal to the Court of Appeals with his attorney.
