ANKARA - The fact that the 'Kobané investigation' against HDP former Co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ launched by Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor is repeated (She was already tried for the same accusation).

Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office sent the file of investigation launched against Figen Yüksekdağ, former Co-Chair of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), regarding the 2014 Kobané protests, to Ankara 19th High Criminal Court.

The court board investigated the file from which Yüksekdağ is sentenced to prison and took minutes.  The court stated that the accusations in the conclusion part of the investigation document are the same as the information in the 8th summary in the main case and that the criminal charge is different. The court decided that the investigation file and the trial in the main case had de facto legal links. The court stated that the claims were the same while the charges for those claims were different.

On September 20, 2019, Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor initiated a new investigation against HDP Ex-Co-Chair Figen Yüksekdağ and Selahattin Demirtaş within the scope of the investigation numbered 2014/146757 and both of them were arrested within the scope of this investigation.

There has been no indictment against the co-chairs for more than a year. Demirtaş's file is being examined by a different delegation.

DIFFERENT PEOPLE ARE NOW DETAINED IN SCOPE OF THE SAME INVESTIGATION

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued a warrant of detention against 82 people, including former Central Executive Board (MYK) members and members of parliament from the HDP for the Kobané protests. 20 politicians are still detained as part of the investigation.

It was revealed that Kars Municipality Co-mayor Ayhan Bilgen, one of the detained politicians, had previously been imprisoned for 7 months within the scope of the same investigation and that the Constitutional Court has received a violation decision.

Lawyers of other politicians in custody also state that the investigation is a repetition of the same file.
