In a written statement issued by the Suwayda National Defence Forces Comman, it was stated that the Syrian Transitional Government forced deployed in Rima-Hazim and Mezra regions close to Suwayda violated the ceasefire. The statement reads: "The Syrian Transitional Government once again violated the ceasefire and attacked the town of Majdala with 23 mm heavy weapons. Civilians were targeted in the attack. These attacks aimed to create fear among civilians. Our forces immediately responded to the attack and it was stopped."

 

It was stated that the National Defence Forces will continue to carry out its defence mission and emphasised that "any attempt to threaten the security of citizens will be responded with determination". 

 

Eyewitnesses in the region reported that the clashes continued for a short time until the early hours of the morning and that tension continued in the region.
