AMED - The body of artist Ayşe Şan, whose will "to be buried in Amed (Diyarbakır)" was fulfilled after 29 years, was buried in Yeniköy Cemetery. Women carried the body brought from Izmir on their shoulders with the slogan "Jin, jiyan, azadî (Woman, life, freedom)" until the grave where she would be buried.

 

29 years later, son of Eyşe Şan Murat Kersen shared his feelings about the fulfilment of his mother's will with Mezopotamya Agency (MA). He stated that he could not bring his mother's body to Amed for many years due to some reasons. Kersen said, "Now my mother is reunited with us, you and her people. From now on, my mother is netrusted to the Kurdish people. You will come here more than us, you will take care of her. All Kurdish people will come here. She was an artist who belonged to the Kurdish people. I am happy that she is reunited with the Kurdish people. There was no problem in bringing the body here. I would like to thank those who supported the treasure. My mum is in your care."

 

'SHE RETURNED TO HER HOME AND LAND'

 

Ayşe Şan's granddaughter Elif Kersen said, "It was a little late, but now she is reunited with her loved ones. She came to her home, to her land. I think her soul will find peace. I hope she will have many prayers. Her loved ones come and pray. We have no other wish. His will was fulfilled. I hope everyone will show love and attention as they should."
