AMED - Stating that everyone should continue diplomatic initiatives to protect the gains of the Kurds, "If this is achieved, the status of the Kurds will be ensured in Rojava," says Azadî Party Chair Ayatollah Ashitî.

After the overthrow of the Ba'ath regime, the talks between the Kurdish parties in order to recognise the status of Kurds in the reconstruction of Syria continue. While there is a consensus in principle on the status in the talks, Turkey and the affiliated Syrian National Army (SNA) intensified their attacks in order to eliminate the Autonomous Administration and leave the Kurds without status in the future Syria.

Another call for national unity came from the chair of Azadi Party, Ayatollah Ashitî.

Ayatollah Ashitî said, "Kurds, one of the ancient peoples of the Middle East, lived here before the Ottoman Empire and before Christ. Kurds have been living in the Middle East since Noah. Kurds accepted Islam with the arrival of Islam. However, while all Muslims established their own states, the Kurds' demand for self-government was always passed over under the name of ummahism. They say, 'We have been brothers for thousands of years'. But it is obvious what they understand from the law of brotherhood. Today there are attacks against Rojava. This is unacceptable neither in fraternal law, nor in religion, nor in humanity."

'NOT WITHOUT NATIONAL UNITY'

Stating that one's beliefs, lands and races are the honour of human beings, "Unfortunately, in the reality we are going through, people with beliefs are lacking in national unity. We want Kurds to have a system where they can govern themselves. The religion of Islam is being abused. There are different faiths living in this region. There were not only Muslims in the Islamic Ummah. Just as there were many faiths in the lands of Medina and many faiths protected those lands, it would be the same today. Everyone remained in their own faith. However, they were all gathered under one ummah. In Kurdistan, whoever has any belief or thought can defend it. But they should do it within the framework of national unity. It cannot be done without national unity." Ashitî said.

Expressing that everyone should continue diplomatic initiatives to protect the gains of the Kurds, Aşitî added, "Today, the Ba'ath regime has collapsed. The Kurds have the same rights as any other people living there. If this is ensured, the status of the Kurds will be ensured in Rojava."
