'MY DAUGHTER WAS MURDERED BY A STATE BULLET'
Speaking at the commemoration, Şahin's mother Aysel Şahin stated that the perpetrator was protected because he was a police officer and said: “My daughter was murdered with a state bullet. The presiding judge made every effort to exonerate the killer police officer. He did not listen to me as a mother during the trial and we had to struggle for 7 years without experiencing our pain. Since there is no justice in this country, the murderer is walking among us right now, maybe two streets away from us, maybe he is among us right now. Down with this justice system.”
Pointing out that 284 women have been murdered since the beginning of 2024, “We need to stop these massacres, we need to protect women and children because this state and justice system does not protect women and children” she said.
CHP Mersin Women's Branch Chair Gülşah Yıldırım Genç criticized the justice system and said that the struggle must grow to prevent the murder of another woman.
Bekir Şahin, the father, explained the judicial process regarding the case. CHP Mersin MP Talat Dinçer and Mezitli Mayor Ahmet Serkan Tuncer said that the struggle should be waged to prevent the deaths of other Ferays.
The commemoration ended after the speeches.
