AMED - The Kurdish Literary Association reacted against the ongoing attacks on Kurdish culture and language and said: “The Kurdish language will echo despite all oppression.”
The Kurdish Literary Association made a statement regarding the attacks on Kurdish culture and the 11-day solitary cell sentence given to prisoners Enes İlgen and Serdar Başaran in Bafra Type T Prison for Kurdish poems and songs in their notebooks.
In the written statement, the following statements were made: “The voice of Kurdish poetry, Kurdish literature and Kurdish language will echo despite all oppression. People are being arrested and tortured. We are aware that these are not arbitrary practices. This is being done in the context of a dirty concept with an assimilationist mind and the destruction of Kurdish culture. As the Kurdish Literary Association, we define this as cultural genocide and social amnesia, and we state that we will make Kurdish language and culture visible in every field, and that we will be the voice of Kurdish poetry, language and culture.”
