AMED - The release of Ali Koç, who has been held in prison for 31 years, is postponed for the second time on the grounds that he "did not behave well".
Ali Koç, who was arrested in Amed on December 15, 1992 and sentenced to life imprisonment by the Diyarbakır State Security Court (DGM) on the charge of "disrupting the unity and integrity of the country", has been in prison for more than 31 years. Koç, who has been held in Karabük Type T Closed Prison for 16 years after Amed and Dilok prisons, had to be released on December 15, 2022, but he is not released because he does not accept the regret imposed by the Administration and Observation Board. Citing the 26 separate disciplinary punishments given to Koç and his will to be with political prisoners, the board postponed his release for another year.
HIS RELEASE WAS POSTPONED FOR 3 MORE MONTHS
After 1 year, this time, it decided that Koç was not in "good behavior" in the evaluation made in January and postponed his release for another 3 months.
14 PRISONERS ARE NOT RELEASED ON CONDITIONS
Speaking to family members who went to meet recently regarding the situation, Koç called for public awareness by saying: “Although 14 of our 24 prisoner friends here have completed their sentences, we are not allowed to exercise the right to any conditional release."
CALL FOR AWARENESS
Koç's family also demanded the release of Koç, who has been in prison for 31 years. Family members demaded the conditional release of Koç and the 14 prisoners.
