ADANA - Addressing the Ministry of Justice and CPT in front of the Adana Kürkçüler Prison Campus, the relatives of the prisoners said: "The demand of the political prisoners is also the demand of the Kurds and we are asking for the demands to be met.”
The Justice Watch action, initiated by the Mediterranean Assistance and Solidarity Association with Families of Detainees and Convicts (AATUHAY-DER) in Adana, demanding the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, continues on its 38th day in front of the Kürkçüler Prison Campus. Mothers for Peace, relatives of prisoners, People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Adana Provincial Co-chairs Helin Kaya and Seyfettin Aydemir, and provincial and district administrators attended the statement made in front of the prison despite the heavy rain. In the statement, a banner was opened: "Let's break the isolation for justice, let's voice the prisons for democratic peace." AATUHAY-DER Manager Nimet Sezgin read the press text in the statement.
CALL TO THE MINISTRY
Stating that prisoners in 106 prisons are on hunger strike and relatives of prisoners are on Justice Watch outside within the scope of the "Freedom for PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign, Sezgin described the Imrali isolation as an "inhumane practice". Drawing attention to the hunger strikes, Sezgin said: "This demand of political prisoners is also the demand of the Kurds." Sezgin called on the Ministry of Justice and the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) to meet the demands of the prisoners before the hunger strikes evolve into a grave process.
