There has been no news from Rojnews Arabic Service Editor Süleyman Ahmet for 54 days. Journalist Ahmet was detained by the KDP security forces at the Pêşxabûr (Sêmalka) Border Gate while returning to Southern Kurdistan on October 25 from the city of Aleppo, where he went to visit his family on October 1.
In the statement made by Duhok Public Order, affiliated with KDP, 6 days after his detention, allegations were made that Ahmet had nothing to do with journalism.
Nerîman Ehmed, one of Süleyman Ahmet's lawyers, stated that the Duhok Public Order prevented them from meeting with their client on the grounds that the investigation was continuing and that the file was under the control of Parastin (KDP's intelligence agency).
