Şervan Serkaya, a ill prisoner who was transferred from Maraş Türkoğlu Type L Prison to Kırşehir Type S Closed Prison after the Mereş-centered earthquake, stated that he vomited blood in a phone call with his family and that although he reported this to the prison administration officials, he was not referred to the hospital. Sertkaya's father, Bahattin Sertkaya, said that his son had surgery for appendicitis a few months before the earthquake and therefore had health problems for a while. Father Sertkaya said. "My son called his mother yesterday and said, 'I have been vomiting blood for a few days, but the administration does not take me to the hospital.' We want our son to be in good health. We want justice to be prevailed.”
