DİYARBAKIR - Stating that the prominent demand in the public meetings they held was the end of the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and Green Left Party VQA member Cahit Kırkazak said: "We will continue our work on the issue"
The “restructuring” meetings initiated by the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and the Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) continue in 7 regions. In the meetings held in the streets, in the neighborhood squares and in the villages, the demands and suggestions of the next process are taken.
The meetings, which started on July 14 in Amed, continue uninterruptedly. Green Left Party Central Executive Board (MYK) member Cahit Kırkazak attended public meetings in many districts and rural neighborhoods for about a week as part of the work. Kırkazak made evaluations about the course of the meetings, the suggestions made, the demands of the people and the road map to be followed.
'CONTINUE TO STRUGGLE'
Reminding that the elections held in May were an important opportunity for Turkey's democratization, Kırkazak said: "If we had won, we would have had an important opportunity for democratization. The current result allows us to continue the struggle from where we left off." Kırkazak, who gave the self-criticism that the deficiencies and inadequacies in the elections brought failure, underlined that they held public meetings to evaluate the results of the failure.
Noting that the meetings will continue until July 25 in 7 regions of Turkey and in the earthquake zone, Kırkazak said: "The strong suggestions emerged in the meetings. The destruction created by the century-old monist Republic and the attacks against the Kurdish people came to the fore at the meetings. There are important criticisms, observations and suggestions as to 'how can we build the next process?' We will evaluate all these together, decide on the suggestions of our people together with the conference process, and organize a new construction process."
'DEMAND TO LIFT THE ISOLATION IS STRONG'
Saying that the isolation imposed on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has not been heard from in Imralı Type F Prison for 28 months, came to the fore at public meetings, Kırkazak continued: “For the Kurdish people, preventing Mr. Öcalan from playing his role actually causes the continuation of the century-long war, denial. The Kurdish people are very sensitive on this issue and very insistent on the end of the isolation. The demand to fight for the end of the isolation is strongly expressed at the meetings. The isolation imposed on Mr. Öcalan is against the law, legitimacy and humanity. The legislation we call law includes the principle of equality of all individuals before the law, but a special practice is applied to Mr. Öcalan. There is an approach and attack that has no application anywhere..."
