URFA - Şenyaşar family ended the sit-in demonstration in front of the courthouse on the 846th day. Ferit Şenyaşar said: "As a result of the trial to be held on July 18, the mother will either go home or go to Ankara."
The Justice Watch carried out by the Şenyaşar family has reached 846. The sit-in was launched on March 9, 2021 by Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons as a result of the attack carried out by AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız's bodyguards and relatives in the Suruç province of Urfa, on June 14, 2018. Emine Şenyaşar, who came to the Urfa Courthouse from their house in Pirsûs(Suruç), staged the sit-in for the last time in the area called "Şenyaşar Family Justice Corner". A banner reading "Justice for the Şenyaşar family" was hung on the concrete barriers in front of the courthouse.
The family announced that they will continue their sit-in in Ankara if justice is not provided during the trial to be held at the Malatya 3rd High Criminal Court on July 18. A mass press release was made on the subject. Many people joined the statement.
'THE UNLAWFULNESS SHOULD BE ENDED'
Green Left Party Deputy Ferit Şenyaşar, who spoke in the statement where the banner reading "Justice for the Şenyaşar family" was opened, said: "We have been on sit-in here for 846 days. Thank you to everyone who supported us on the sit-in. As a result of the trial to be held on July 18, either the mother will go home or she will go to Ankara with this banner. Everyone accepted that there was an unlawfulness, but justice was not provided. There is footage of the massacre. The person who committed this massacre is not an MP anymore but his statement has not been taken yet. This is the fault of the law. We will be in Malatya on July 18. The unlawfulness should be ended. The mother wants to go home, she does not want to go to Ankara. We want my brother, who has been in solitary confinement for more than 5 years, to be released.”
After the announcement, the Justice Watch demonstration in front of the courthouse ended on the 846th day.
