NEWS CENTER - PUK Chairperson Bafil Talabani has issued a message for the SDF fighters who lost their lives in the helicopter crash.

 

Bafil Talabani, Chairperson of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), issued a message regarding the 9 SDF fighters who lost their lives in the helicopter crash that took place in the Federated Kurdistan Region on March 15. Talabani stated that they are fighting together with the SDF against DAESH and that they are proud of the history of this struggle.

 

Expressing his sadness at the martyrdom of SDF fighters at the beginning of the message he published, Bafil Talabani said: "Martyr Şervan Kobanê and YAT have made a history full of victory by waging an effective fight against ISIS gangs in Rojava and protecting the lands of Kurdistan from terrorism."

 

In the continuation of his message, Talabani expressed his pride in the brilliant history of the Rojava Anti-Terrorist Units, which fought to protect the lands of Kurdistan and wrote heroic epics.

 

PUK Chairperson Bafil Talabani, who offered his condolences at the end of the message, said: “I offer my condolences to the SDF, YAT fighters and all the people of Kurdistan, especially the general commander of the SDF.”

 

BACKGROUND

 

On March 15, 2023, the helicopter carrying the Anti-Terrorist Units (YAT) fighters crashed in the Çemankê district of Duhok due to bad weather conditions while trying to reach Sulaymaniyah. In a statement regarding the crashed helicopter, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that 9 fighters, including YAT commander Şervan Kobanê, lost their lives as a result of the accident.
