URFA - Stating that there was an unlawfulness in İmralı Prison, Lawyer Serdar Tüm said:"Our demand is for the TBB to evaluate the bar association's application and take steps.

 

There has been no news since March 25, 2021 from Ömer Hayri Konar, Veysi Aktaş and Hamili Yıldırım, who have been held in the same prison as PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held in İmralı Type F High Security Prison for nearly 24 years. The Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD), which continues its attempts against the aggravated isolation of Abdullah Öcalan and other prisoners, has applied to the Urfa Bar Association. The Urfa Bar Association, to which lawyers applied, also applied to the Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB) and the Ministry of Justice. No response has yet been given to the baron's applications.

 

Lawyer Serdar Tüm, a member of ÖHD Urfa Branch, spoke about his ongoing attempts and applications against the isolation.

Tüm said: "In order for a convict to be banned from visiting a lawyer, he must first have a lawyer's visit. It violates paragraphs 5-7 and 8 of Article 59 of the Execution Law, which regulates the prohibition of lawyer visitation. It is necessary to see it as such. They make the law a pretext but as we said, bans on lawyers and families are unlawful. We have applied to the bar associations for the establishment of law stemming from the law of attorneyship. We have applied to the Ministry of Justice and the TBB. We appeal to the Ministry of Justice, TBB and other bar associations. Fundamental rights and freedoms of convicts are ignored in İmralı Prison, and There is openly torture in there. We invite all democratic public opinion to speak out against this torture."
