NEWS CENTER - Pointing out that the Ankara-Damascus talks will not bring a solution to the problems, PYD Co-Chair Salih Muslim said: "Only the Syrians can solve the Syrian issue."
Democratic Union Party (PYD) Co-Chair Salih Muslim answered the questions of Fırat News Agency (ANF) about the meetings between Ankara and Damascus and the meeting with Syrian tribes in Urfa. Evaluating the talks between Damascus and Ankara as a "forced marriage", Muslim said: "There are huge cracks between the two sides due to recent events, betrayals and enmity. You can't get up and finish them in one day. They think that it would be beneficial to see Erdogan and Assad in one frame by rushing for Russia's needs and Turkey's elections. This is not work. It is wrong.”
'ATTACKS CAN BE LAUNCHED BEFORE ELECTIONS'
Noting that the election process in Turkey was effective in holding the negotiations, Muslim said: "There could be a pre-election attack on various excuses. The next 4-5 months are very important. Unexpected things can happen. A despotic regime. A man who thinks himself as a sultan can also create a very complicated situation. The peoples of Turkey will suffer the most from this."
URFA MEETING
Pointing out that he held a meeting with some Syrian tribes in Urfa at a time when the attacks were being discussed, Muslim said: "They are not tribes but rather people who will benefit from these situations. They never represent tribes. They are some pragmatist opportunists. Negotiating on the blood of the people and playing tricks on Erdoğan. This is not the first time they have been there for 4-5 years. Their aim is to stir up this place. The tribes here are part of the established system, they are their partners. They exist both in the administration and in the war. It does not mean anything to gather a few people who have lost their grip there. This is the first effort We've been seeing them for 5-6 years. It hasn't produced results until now, and it won't in the future. It may be with the participation of some Arabs and some personalities in Urfa at most. This is the organization of the MIT. Everyone knows how they sell themselves. Many of them too. He regretted it and returned. I think the rest is useless."
'SYRIANS CAN SOLVE THE SYRIA ISSUE'
Stating that only Syrians can solve the Syrian issue, Muslim said: "We have told everyone, we say that we should do whatever it takes to live together. Whatever we need, we should do it together, not on the orders of Erdogan, Bashar Assad, America, Russia.
As the PYD and the Autonomous Administration, our decision is in our own hands. We never followed anyone's directives or anything. We do whatever is necessary for us, but we could not find such strong-willed people in front of us. All Syrian peoples should be included in the decisions; otherwise, it will backfire. Instead of fighting, we should do whatever it takes in peace. This requires free will. It requires free ideas. The process is very blurry for Syrians. We don't know what will happen. We can shorten the process if we have the decision; otherwise, if we look outside and see what anyone wants from us, it will take a long time. We all lose."
