DİYARBAKIR - 5 prisoners in Elazig Type T Prison have started an indefinite non-rotating hunger strike due to pressure and threats.
Five prisoners in Elazig Type T Prison started an indefinite hunger strike on December 22 due to pressure and rights violations such as barriers to vision, health, books, letters and standing counting. In their weekly phone call with their families, the prisoners shared information about the pressure they experienced and the action they started.
The prisoners Mahir Kapan, Celil Dağtekin, Nevzat Akbulak, Ömer Özkan and Özgür Taş, who started the the hunger strike, said: “The 1st director of the prison said: 'This is Elazığ, it is unlike anywhere else. You are a terrorist, not a political prisoner. He is threatening with words such as "You will see who is stronger..."
The families said that there was a psychological attack on the prisoners and that they were given very little of their needs such as sugar, salt, yoghurt and lemon. It was also shared that the prisoners are not given refrigerators and televisions.
