Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Mehmet Ersoy, Gendarmerie General Commander General Arif Çetin, Diyarbakır Governor Ali İhsan Su, Bingöl Governor Kadir Ekinci, Muş Governor İlker Gündüzöz and Batman Governor Ekrem Canalp explored in Aydın Arslan Üs Base in the rural area of Lice district of Diyarbakır.
Announcing the operation launched with the participation of 3 thousand 651 personnel, Soylu received information from Gendarmerie General Commander General Çetin, Diyarbakır Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General Gökhan Çiloğlu and Lice Gendarmerie Commando Regiment Commander Colonel Adem Şakrak. Soylu, in his statement here, said that the gendarmeries, rangers, UAV and Atak helicopters were involved in the operation in the Lice region.

Stating that the operations continued with the policy change made by AKP Chairperson Tayyip Erdoğan on the Kurdish issue after July 15, 2016, Soylu said that they acted "with the logic of continuous operation within the framework of Erdoğan's instructions. The area of this operation will be carried out in 4 provinces, Diyarbakır Lice center, Muş Şenyayla, Bingöl Sağgöze and Batman Sason Zori region."
