The Justice Watch carried out by the Şenyaşar family has reached 592. The sit-in was launched on March 9, 2021 by Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons as a result of the attack carried out by AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız's bodyguards and relatives in the Suruç province of Urfa, on June 14, 2018. Emine Şenyaşar and her son came in front of the Urfa Courthouse early in the morning and started the sit-in by hanging a banner with the inscription "Justice for the Şenyaşar family" on the concrete barriers. Support visits to the family continue. Amed Labor and Democracy Platform visited the family today. The executives of the Association for Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) Urfa Branch accompanied the delegation.
Stating that the pressure on the Şenyaşar family is increasing day by day, Amed Labor and Democracy Platform Term Spokesperson Yıldız Ok Orak said: “Everyone should be in solidarity with the family. Emine Şenyaşar is a symbol for all women. Despite all the difficult conditions, the search for justice continues."
THE POLICE WANTED TO BLOCK
Following the statement, the police wanted to intervene in the sit-in, citing the Urfa Governor's decision to ban actions and activities for 3 days. Dozens of police officers who came to the sit-in area stated that it is forbidden for the press to take pictures. The police, who told the visiting delegation that they would be detained if they made a press statement, had to retreat when they faced the reaction of the family and visitors.
The delegation left the area after holding the sit-in for a while with the family, despite the police blocking it.
