BEŞİKDÜZÜ PRISON
The ongoing hunger strike of political prisoners in Trabzon Beşikdüzü Type T Closed Prison has been going on for 44 days. Mahsun Bilem (45), who has been in prison for 27 years, said in a weekly phone call with his family members on August 19 that his hunger strike continues and his demands have not been met yet.
'THERE WAS SHORTAGE'
Noting that her son has been held in Beşikdüzü Prison for 4 years, mother Hasibe Bilem said: "My son has been in prison for 27 years. There were the violations of rights in prisons every term, but my son would never tell us what happened in prison before. My son said that for the first time, there were serious violations of rights in prison. Prison conditions are harmful to human health and they don't give proper food to the political prisoners. That's why the political prisoners started a hunger strike. They talked to the prison authorities because of the fact that the cabbage dish appeared almost every day in the prison but the prison authorities said to them that there was a shortage, so this food was always given to the political prisoners."
