İZMİR - Poyraz's parents, who called for participation in the third hearing of the trial to be held on April 29, against Onur Gencer, who murdered Deniz Poyraz, said, "Everyone with a conscience should attend the hearing."
The third hearing of the case against Onur Gencer, who launched an armed attack on the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) İzmir Provincial Organisation building on June 17, 2021 and murdered Deniz Poyraz, will be held at İzmir Bayraklı Courthouse 6th High Criminal Court on April 29. Before the trial, calls were made to attend the hearing from many circles, especially political parties, institutions and women's organisations. As in the previous hearings, citizens are expected to come to İzmir, especially from the surrounding cities, to be in solidarity with Deniz Poyraz and her family.
Before the hearing, Deniz Poyraz's father Abdülilah Poyraz and mother Fehime Poyraz spoke about what happened during the trial and called for all peoples to attend the third hearing, which will be held on April 29.
'THE COLLABORATORS SHALL BE PROSECUTED'
Stating that there has been no progress since the beginning of the investigation, Abdullilah Poyraz said that they were concerned that the murderer might be released after 4-5 years. Poyraz said, "We want justice, we expect judges and prosecutors to approach us fairly. A very painful massacre took place. This murderer is a barbarian, stripped off his humanity. The bullet fired at Deniz was fired at all Kurds. Even if this murderer is punished, Deniz will never come back. We want those who gave guns to that murderer, helped him, and gave him this task, to be brought to justice. This murderer is a hitman, those who back him need to be exposed if justice is to be done. So that nothing happens to other people after Deniz."
Stating that he was also sued for talking about his daughter's death, Abdullilah said, “After Deniz's martyrdom, the whole family were victimised. Our children was murdered but they file a lawsuit against us. This is not justice. All collaborators must be prosecuted, not just the hand that held the gun.
'EVERYONE WITH A CONSCIOUS SHOULD COME'
Stating that everyone with a conscience should be at the courthouse on the day of the trial so that similar massacres do not happen, the father said, "We did not think that Deniz would be a martyr an hour and a half after leaving the house. My call to all the people; We expect everyone who can come to the court. Deniz was murdered, other young people should not be murdered."
Deniz Poyraz's mother said, "Deniz was murdered brutally without any reason, she didn't had the chance to defend herself. Politicians, lawyers and human rights defenders should be on trial in solidarity with us and face that murderer. We want justice and I will continue to follow my daughter's case until the justice is done."
