ANKARA - Şamil Parlak from Karala Magazine, who stated that the peoples should put forward their existance as a third party in the Russia-Ukraine war, which can only be solved through self-organization as it happened in Northern and Eastern Syria."

Russia's military intervention in Ukraine is on its 16th day. While negotiations continue, there is an ongoing conflict that costs peoples their lives. Şamil Parlak from Karala Magazine said that the society and the oppressed people should put themselves forward as a third party in the Russia-Ukraine war, and that a social revolution in the 21st century can only be achieved this way.

WAR OF STATES

Drawing attention to the developments in the Ukraine-Russia war, Parlak said, “The Russian state has a certain position in Ukraine. Russia began to lose this position in 2014. In those years, the Ukrainian people, like most peoples in the world, started a social uprising against certain injustices. Other states in the world, NATO countries, countries falling in life with the USA played a role at a certain level. Today, in fact, Ukraine is nothing but a new playground for the competition and war of the states of the world. In fact, it is just like everywhere else in the Middle East. On the one hand, there are Russia and the forces on its side, on the other hand, there are the USA, NATO and the forces on their side. In fact, the two states are at war with each other.”

Reminding that this war is not in the interest of the peoples, Parlak said, “People are the ones who worked for the production of the war machinesand the people are also sent to the war front. Children of poor people are subjected to compulsory military service in Russia and Ukraine and in Turkey. They are sent to the front with various nationalist motivations. No war in the world with the states as a party is not in the interest of the peoples, people are being massacred in these wars."

'GOVERNMENTS ARE OCCUPIERS BY DEFAULT'

Stating that not only the solution but also the policies of Russia with Ukraine is similar to Turkey's policies in North and East Syria, Parlak mentioned the occupation of Afrin and said: "When Turkey occupied Afrin, it said that it was protecting its borders. Just as the same, Russia said it was protecting its borders from NATO presence when it occupied Ukraine. Only the names and places change in these situations. States are aggressors, it doesn't matter what they attack, they are occupiers."

HYPOCRISY OF STATES

Emphasizing the hypocracy of the states in wars, Parlak said, "The Polish state said that they can take one million Ukrainians. Just a few months ago, Kurds fleeing from Kirkuk, Erbil, Slemani and Rojava was left to death in freezing weather. People starved there, being pushed from both sides. People died of cold in the middle of Europe, is there anything else that can be said?. These are countries that pride themselves on their democracies. The hypocrisy isn't just there. People are being evacuated from Kiev. Africans who are students there are not taken on trains or they are queued up. The same goes for border gates. It is an indescribable hypocrisy, it is sickening.”

Adding that a similar situation is also experienced in Turkey, Parlak said: “There are people who took shelter here from the war that has been going on for 10 years in Syria. People who are against refugees are saying, 'I don't want them, they should go back to their countries'. These are peoples who have been neighbors to each other for centuries. They take a very peaceful position on the war by saying no to the war in Ukraine, but these are the people who did not speak out against the death, mutilation and forced displacement of thousands of people just two years ago. If legitimacy is determined by international borders, the Syrian state also has borders.”

BEING AGAINST WAR!

Stating that one of the facts clearly revealed by the Ukraine-Russia war, is that the opposition to war varies according to where that war is, Parlak said, “Currently, Turkey is occupying about one-fifth of Syria that legally belongs to the Syrian state. They steal olive trees, grains and wood from the trees in front of the world. They cooperate with ISIS that the world defines as terrorists. There is a big difference between the reaction to this war and the reaction to the Ukraine war."

STATES ARE ON ONE SIDE, PEOPLE ON THE OTHER

Reminding that all states invest in their military and spend most of their budget on war, and that the technological developments are generally in the military field, Parlak said: “Capitalism says that it is in a phase of enormous technological development. The greatest effort of these technological developments is given in the field of military technology. The President of the American State, who is considered a democrat, is using the word 'Third world war'. Another one talks about nuclear weapons. We have to consider all states in the same way without discrimination. This is how we do it at least. The states are on one side and the people are on the other. What is in the interest of one is to the detriment of the other. It is necessary to accept that they are invaders in our lives and take our position accordingly.”

SOLUTION IS SELF ORGANISATION

Stating that the possible solution for wars produced by states is the "self-organisation" model, Parlak said, "In this global civil war, the only option for solution has emerged. There was a revolutionary process in Rojava that emerged with the self-organisation of the people. In Rojava, there is an organisation on the side of the people that has been going on for many years. In Ukraine, either such a path will be preferred or the states will continue to fight over our lives in competition and power hierarchy. The anarchists in Ukraine formed a resistance committee and took up arms. They started a resistance against the Russian occupation. They made calls to the people to defend their own lives. This situation can be read positively. On the other hand, the big picture doesn't look promising. There is not an organisation that is embraced by large masses of people who can socialise in Ukraine. Social revolutions are very unpredictable. We can't see a process similar to Roajava in Ukraine, or concrete conditions, but the only solution is self-organisation.

THE PEOPLE SHOULD PUT FORWARD THEIR INSISTANCE FOR EXISTANCE

Adding that the peoples should take a position on the third side in the war in question, Parlak said: "The states that say they are against war, are the reason for this war. The situation in Ukraine is the result of years of activities in line with the interests of certain powers. I am not saying this to justify any parties of this war. I say it because the oppressed people must put forward their insistance for existence as a third party in this equation. This is how we can talk about a revolution in the 21st century. The important thing here is to exist as a third party and to stay on the side of the oppressed in this equation, taking its power only from the people. If we do that, we can talk about a better life and a better world.”
