İZMİR - Calling for attandance to the hearing where murderer Onur Gencer will be prosecuted for killing HDP employee Deniz Poyraz, Poyraz family demanded that those responsible for the massacre must be probed and revealed.

 

The hearing of the case regarding the armed attack carried out by Onur Gencer on the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) İzmir provincial building on June 17 and the murder of party employee Deniz Poyraz will be held at İzmir Bayraklı Courthouse 6th High Criminal Court on December 29. Although 6 months have passed since the attack, there are still many  unanswered questions. Human rights organisations, women's organisations, political party representatives, artists and intellectuals called for solidarity and vowed that they will be at the courthouse to show solidarity with Poyraz's family.

 

Poyraz's family, who will see the murderer Onur Gencer in the courtroom for the first time in 6 months, said that they are having a hard time describing their feelings with just 2 days left to the hearing. The family, who said that their only wish is that those responsible for the massacre to be revealed and punished, called on for solidarity.

 

'WE THINK ABOUT HER DAY AND NIGHT'

 

Reminding that 6 months have passed since her daughter's murder, mother Fehime Poyraz expressed that she feels the absence of her daughter every day, every hour. Poyraz said, “It has only been 6 months but it feels like such a long time. It is so hard to get used to her absence. We think about her day and night. The first hearing will be held on Wednesday. My heart stops thinking about it. I will see the killer of my daughetr for the first time in that court room. I don't know how will I just sit there and endure his presence. We know that he was not alone planning the attack and killing Deniz. He was supported. All we want is those who helped him to be revealed as well and punished."

 

'LET JUSTICE BE DONE UPON HIM!'

 

Calling for participation in the hearing as observers, Poyraz said: "We know that we will not be alone in that court room that day. We will be happier and stronger by the strength people give us. We will stand strong for Deniz in that court room. We will be braver with those who came to support us. Let the justie be done upon him!"

 

THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ATTACK MUST BE DETERMINED

 

Underlining that the killer meant to kill more people when he walked into the party building, father Abdülilah Poyraz said: "She was the only one killed in the attack because she was alone in the building. He would have killed more if people were there. We know that he was instructed to carry out that attack. We want him and those instructed him to be punished. We call on to our people to be with us in that court room. However, I don't expect that it will be a fair trial."
