NEWS CENTER – Iran has officially confirmed the death of Admiral Ali Reza Tengsiri, Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy.

Iran has officially confirmed the death of Admiral Ali Reza Tengsiri, Commander of the Revolutionary Guards’ Naval Forces. Tengsiri’s death was first announced last Thursday by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz. In his statement, Katz said “the individual directly responsible for the terrorist operation to mine and close the Strait of Hormuz has been neutralised” .

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards, however, stated in a statement to their news site Sepah News that Tengsiri, a well-known military figure, had “died as a result of serious injuries”.

Ali Rıza Tengsiri had long been a prominent figure at the helm of the IRGC’s naval forces. Tengsiri, whose name frequently came up in connection with military tensions in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, was known as one of the most visible figures in Iran’s naval strategy.
