Aksakoğlu released from prison: Justice needs to come to this country

ISTANBUL - Yigit Aksakoglu, who has been detained for 7 months for Gezi case, got out of prison. Aksakoğlu said: "There are many people unjustly detained inside. We were lucky. Justice should come to this country as soon as possible." 
 
 
The hearing of the Gezi Protests case in which a total of 16 people including businessman Osman Kavala, 2 detainees, 6 fugitives were being tried was held in İstanbul 30th High Criminal Court yesterday.The court decided continuation of detention for Kavala while releasing Yiğit Aksakoğlu. 
 
After a majority vote, Aksakoğlu's family and relatives waited for hours in front of the prison. Hours after the decision, Aksakoğlu was released from prison, his wife Ünzile Aksakoğlu and relatives were greeted with applause.
 
'JUSTICE MUST COME TO THIS COUNTRY ’
 
In his speech in front of the prison, Aksakoğlu said: "I wasn't expecting to be arrested and I wasn't expecting to be released. But I am happy that I got out today. Although, I am very upset about Mr. Kavala. He is imprisoned for 20 months for no reason. There are many people unjustly detained inside. We were lucky. Justice should come to this country as soon as possible."
 
 
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED
 
A surprise was made at the prison door by his relatives. Aksakoğlu's past birthday cake was cut. Aksakoğlu and his relatives then left the prison.
