AMED - Stating that the state should comply with the laws regarding the isolation in İmralı, HEDEP Wan MP Sinan Çiftyürek said: "The march to Gemlik is a democratic right and the state should not prevent it."
While there has been no news from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan for 32 months, Abdullah Öcalan and 3 other prisoners were given a 6-month disciplinary penalty on October 31. Sinan Çiftyürek, Wan(Van) MP of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (HEDEP), who applied to the Ministry of Justice to meet with PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is detained in İmralı, evaluated the purpose of their application and isolation.
'THE MARCH OF GEMLİK IS DEMOCRATIC'
Reminding that PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan was given a new 6-month disciplinary penalty, Çiftyürek said: "This was a game. Such a disciplinary punishment was given before the Gemlik march that the people will organize to end the isolation. We condemned the declaration of a ban on demonstrations and events by the governorships in Amed(Diyarbakır) and Gemlik. The demand for a march to Gemlik for Abdullah Öcalan is democratic. The state should not prevent this"
'BAN IS HYPOCRISY'
Reminding that some parties have been on the streets and neighborhoods for months and that the state has been providing their security with all its security forces, Çiftyürek said: “Why are Kurdish politics, Kurdish people, Kurdish parties and institutions being prevented when they want to march against the isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan? This ban is hypocrisy."
'IF ABDULLAH ÖCALAN SPEAKS, PEACE WILL BE PROVIDED'
Drawing attention that if the state wants to solve the Kurdish issue and end the war and it should lift the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Çiftyürek said: “The Kurdish issue and the end of the war depends on Abdullah Öcalan's speech. If Abdullah Öcalan speaks, peace will be achieved. The state must comply with its laws if it is a 'state of law, not a tent state' and the Ministry of Justice should end this isolation without even a day's delay."
APPLICATION TO THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE
Speaking about their application to the Ministry of Justice as a member of parliament, Çiftyürek said: "We applied to meet Abdullah Öcalan and get information about his health condition. The Ministry of Justice has not yet responded to their applications and that they will apply once again if not. For the solution of the Kurdish issue, the isolation on Mr. Abdullah Öcalan must be lifted. Abdullah Öcalan's opinions and suggestions are important. If we want to solve the situation of peace and war in Bakur Kurdistan, Abdullah Öcalan will solve this equation and pave the way for peace."
