ADANA - Prisoners who rejected to stand up during count in Isparta Type E Closed Prison were beaten by the guards.

Attorney Ramazan Dalçiçek who visited his client Yılmaz Ay, İsmail Göçeri and Cengiz Akkaya in prison on February 24, shared the violations of rights against the prisoners.

Pointing out that in that particular prison, the guards did not force the prisoners to stand up during count before Garé operation, Dalçiçek said that after the operation guards are now forcing prisoners to stand up during counts and beat the prisoners if they reject standing up. Dalçiçek told that they will file a criminal complaint against these guards who battered the prisoners.

Explaining that his clients are in prison since 2016 for exercising their constitutional right, Dalçiçek said that Göçeri's right to education was being violated.

Dalçiçek said: "Yılmaz Ay and İsmail Göçeri are sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison. They were supposed to serve 3/4 of the sentence but even though it has been 5 years, they are still in prison. They should have been released.  The fact that they have been tried in detention for such a period of time constitutes a clear violation of the fundamental rights and freedoms specified in the Constitution, and this issue is accepted as a violation of the right to a fair trial by the ECtHR. We think that the files were not finalized by the Supreme Court."
