
İpekyolu Municipality Co- Mayors maltreated in prison

	VAN - It was learned that the İpekyolu Municipality Co- Mayors Şehsade Kurt and Azim Yacan are being maltreated in prison.&nbsp;

	Detained in house raids in Turkey's eastern province of Van on November 8, İpekyolu Co-Mayors Azim Yacan and Şehzade Kurt have been arrested. They were taken into custody on charges of "being members of a terrorist organization" and "propagandizing for a terrorist organization."

	&nbsp;

	After Kurt and Yacan were detained, a trustee has been appointed to the İpekyolu Municipality of Van. Referred to court to be arrested. Co-Mayors Yacan and Kurt have been sent to Van Type T Closed Prison.

	According to the information obtained, the Co-Mayors are being maltreated in prison.

	&nbsp;

	Following Kurt's meeting with her attorney yesterday, it was learned that she was insulted by the prison guards. Other Co-Mayor Azim Yacan was learned to be staying in a cell called the 'observation cell' temporarily but he was not transferred to a permanent ward.
