The gala screening of the documentary film "Kî me Ez!," about the life of Kurdish artist Cegerxwîn, will take place in the Swedish city of Stockholm on 20 June. Directed by Esin Akgül, the documentary aims to bring Cegerxwîn's life, literary legacy and profound influence on Kurdish culture to audiences.

 

The documentary screening, which also features artists who have made significant contributions to Kurdish literature, sheds light not only on a poet's life story but also on an important era in Kurdish literature. The film features not only Cegerxwîn's family but also Ciwan Haco and Ferhat Merde, world-renowned figures of Kurdish music.

 

"Kî me Ez!," produced by Bêje Production, represents a new link in director Esin Akgül's documentary work. Akgül had previously attracted attention with her documentary "Min Kîyim" about the Şêbizeynî Tribe, filmed in Turkey between 2010-2012, and "Lêger," a documentary on Central Anatolian history, produced in Europe between 2021-2022.

 

The documentary screening, which will bring Cegerxwîn's literary and cultural legacy back onto an international platform, will be held at Hallunda Folkets Hus and is expected to draw large numbers of attendees.
