URFA - Urfa Bar Association called on to the Union of Turkish Bar Associations for an extraordinary meeting to elect a new president, stating that Metin Feyzioğlu have lost his legitimacy.
Metin Feyzioğlu said 'If the armed forces use the civillians as shields, the state being attacked is not obligated to protect those civillians' regarding the operation Turkey launched against North and East Syria. Urfa Bar Association called on to the Union of Turkish Bar Associations for an extraordinary meeting to elect a new president.
Urfa Bar Association President Abdullah Oncel, spoke to Mesopotamia Agency (MA) about this call they made.
Bar President Öncel, stating that bars have the obligation to defend, protect and functionalize the humans' rights, stated that Feyzioğlu is legitimazing the civillian deaths with his discourse, therefore he lost his own legitimacy.
Öncel recalling that the bars have warned and reminded him of his duties before, said: "“However, Mr. Fevzioğlu did not content himself with his statements and came to the Akçakale border and became a war reporter. For this reason, at the Board of Directors meeting we held the previous day, we decided to make a call for Extraordinary General Assembly to elect a new president."
