ANKARA - Following their meeting with President Erdoğan, the DEM Party’s İmralı Delegation said: “During the meeting, the shared commitment to continuing the process with determination was once again reaffirmed.”

 

The İmralı delegation of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) issued a written statement following its meeting with President and AKP Chair Tayyip Erdoğan, which was also attended by National Intelligence Organization (MİT) Director İbrahim Kalın and AKP Deputy Chair Efkan Ala.

 

The delegation’s statement reads:

 

“To the press and the public,

 

Today, we held a productive meeting at Beştepe with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his delegation, which lasted approximately one and a half hours.

 

We discussed developments in the Peace and Democratic Society Process with President Erdoğan. During the meeting, it was emphasized that the passage of the Law on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration, also known to the public as the ‘Framework Law,’ by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey with the very high vote of 467 was a welcome development. The importance of the stage reached in the process and the what needs to be done from this point onward were also assessed by both sides. 

 

It was emphasized that opening the door to a period in which democracy and the political sphere will be strengthened through this law is of vital importance for all our citizens and for our country. During the meeting, the shared commitment to continuing the process with determination was once again reaffirmed. 

 

From this point forward, we will continue our efforts to ensure that the process moves forward towards peace and democracy for the benefit of every person in our country. 

 

We extend our gratitude to all political parties and sections of society whose support, suggestions, warnings, and criticisms have strengthened us to date.
