Attack at school in Maraş: 4 people died, 20 injured
MEREŞ – It was reported that 1 teacher and 3 students lost their lives and 20 people were injured at the school where the armed attack occurred in Maraş. A media blackout was imposed regarding the incident.
Gunshots were heard from Ayser Çalık Middle School in Mereş. In addition to medical teams, rito polica and special operations officers were also dispatched to the scene. After the intervention of the medical teams at the scene, the injured were taken to the hospital by ambulances.
Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer stated, “The shooting caused deaths and injuries without targeting anyone specifically. 1 teacher and 3 students passed away. There are 20 injured people.”
Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin set out to go to the region after the incident. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, stating that an investigation has been launched, said, “3 Deputy Chief Public Prosecutors and 4 Public Prosecutors have been assigned.” Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi also set out to go to the region after the incident at the school.
It was learned that the attacker was killed.
