25 people detained in Bedlîs

BEDLÎS - Twenty-five people were detained during house raids carried out in the Tatvan and Ahlat districts of Bedlîs (Bitlis).
 
In the early morning hours, police conducted raids on numerous homes in the Tetwan (Tatvan) and Xelat (Ahlat) districts of Bedlîs.
 
It was reported that 25 people whose homes were raided were detained as part of an investigation launched by the Bitlis Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on the allegation of “making propaganda for an organization.”
 
The 25 individuals were reportedly detained for participating in Newroz celebrations. It was emphasized that during the house raids, the police subjected the detainees and their family members to torture.

The arrest of 11 people following the Newroz celebration was justified on the grounds of carrying a poster of Abdullah Öcalan, wearing yellow, red, and green colors, carrying the Kurdistan Regional Government flag, chanting the slogan “Yek rêz, yek laş, yek can welat 2+2=1 (One line, one body, one soul, one homeland 2+2=1),” wearing traditional clothes, and playing the song “Oremar.”
