ANKARA - CHP deputies reacted to the appointment of a trustee to Colemêrg Municipality and emphasized that the decision is political.
People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Colemêrg (Hakkari) Municipality Co-Mayor Mehmet Sıddık Akış was dismissed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Governor Ali Çelik was appointed as trustee. CHP deputies reacted to the trustee appointment.
'IT IS A POLITICAL DECISION'
CHP's Mahmut Tanal reacted to the trustee appointment on his virtual media account on the X (Twitter) platform, underlined that the decision was not legal. Stating that the decision was a purely political decision, Tanal said: “There is no conviction. Hakkari Municipality Co-Mayor Akış has an ongoing case. The case was to be heard on June 5, 2024. This decision aims to influence the court panel and the trial. The move in question aims to influence the trial before the court decision. You say that there is no obstacle to the election of the Mayoral Candidate. As a result of the election, the Mayor's seat is occupied. Then you stand up, list the past events that are the subject of the trial, and decide to dismiss. This is unlawful, it is a political move."
BEKAROĞLU: DON’T DIVIDE THIS COUNTRY
CHP Deputy Mehmet Bekaroğlu reacted: “Don't do it, don't divide this country, this people! I don't know, maybe the Mayor committed a crime; The court decides this. (Although these decisions are not credible for DEM members...), if the Mayor’s conviction is finalized, the elected council members will elect the new Mayor instead. Why don't you use this normal procedure when it comes to Kurds? You, those who do all these things, who are you and what are you doing?"
