NEWS CENTER - The Ministry of Internal Affairs, which suspended the municipal Co-Mayor elected by the people of Colemêrg, announced that it appointed a trustee to the municipality.
Mehmet Sıddık Akış, who was elected as the Co-Mayor of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) with 48.92 percent in the elections held on March 31 in Colemêrg, was detained in Wan this morning. After Akış was taken into custody, the municipality was blockaded.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that Akış was suspended from duty and a trustee was appointed in his place. In the statement made on the ministry's virtual media account, it was stated that there was a case file numbered 2014/173 at the Hakkari 1st High Criminal Court, regarding the allegations of "leading a terrorist organisation", "being a member of a terrorist organisation" and "making propaganda for a terrorist organisation". It was noted that the trial in question continues.
It was also noted that there was a new investigation against Stream on the allegation of "being a member of a terrorist organisation" and that Akış was detained within this scope. In the statement, it was noted that Akış was "suspended from duty by the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a temporary measure."
Governor Ali Çelik was appointed as trustee in place of Akış.
