ŞIRNEX - Incife Islek, mother of Fahrettin Islek, one of the prisoners who protested for the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan, said, "The demands should be listened to. The only solution is to open the Imrali gates."
The prisoners, who started a hunger strike on November 27, 2023 for the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the solution of the Kurdish issue, announced that they took their actions to a new stage as of April 4. The prisoners boycotted the courts and decided not to have phone calls or family meetings.
Fahrettin Islek, who is held in Yozgat Closed Prison No. 2 and continued his protest for the freedom of Abdullah Ocalan, was arrested in Şirnex in 2016 on the allegation of "membership in a terrorist organization". During his 8-year imprisonment, Islek was sent to Şirnex, Sêrt and finally Yozgat Prison.
MOTHER ISLEK: THERE IS PRESSURE ON PRISONERS
Islek's mother, Incife Islek (75), has not been able to see her son for 8 years. Mother Islek last had a phone conversation with her son on April 2 and stated that there is heavy pressure on the prisoners. Islek said: "I haven't seen my son for 8 years. In his last phone call, he said that they have now made a decision and taken their actions to the next level. He said that he will not be able to attend meetings from now on and will not use his right to telephone. In the last phone call I had with my son, he said to me, 'We will not go out to meetings anymore. Mr. Ocalan is under absolute isolation. Visits from his family and lawyers are not allowed. We will not have any meetings until the isolation is abolished.’ We also stand behind their demands. Let them open the doors of these prisons and find a solution to the Kurdish issue."
'THE SOLUTION IS OPENING THE DOORS OF IMRALI'
Stating that the isolation of Abdullah Ocalan has dragged Turkey into serious chaos, Islek called on everyone to embrace the actions taken against the isolation. Islek finally said the following: "They must meet the demands of the prisoners. We also want this isolation on Mr. Ocalan to be abolished and the war to stop. I have not seen my son for 8 years and I will not be able to hear his voice anymore. Their demands are legitimate, everyone must listen to these demands and not remain silent. Isolation on Ocalan brings war. Therefore, the only solution is to open the Imrali gates. Our children's demands are our demands."
