Police shot plastic bullets at HDP teenager 2019-07-18 12:04:06 DİYARBAKIR - HDP Youth Assembly held a feast in Diyarbakır. Police attacked the feast with plastic bullets. Edema formation and bruises were seen on Ümit Akbıyık's legs after the police intervention. In scope of the 'Don't be addicted, be free' campaign of People's Democratic Party Youth Assembly, the feast the assembly was to hold in Diyarbakır, Yenişehir on July 16, was blocked by the police. Police intervened to the group who marched and battered them.   One of the young people who were beaten during the intervention was Ümit Akbıyık, a member of the HDP Youth Assembly. Police shot plastic bullets to Akbıyık after battering him. Edema formation and bruises were seen on Akbıyık's legs.     Akbıyık who said he was subjected to physical violence of the police as well as plastic bullets, said he was beaten and detained by the police in the previous events and activities of the HDP Youth Assembly. Akbıyık said: "They made an attempt at my life and my friends in the last police attack. The attempt to strangle the deputy counselor is the most concrete example of this.”     Akbıyık applied to Turkey Human Rights Foundation (TIHV) and filed a criminal complaint about the police.
