Penalty demand for 7 in Özgür Gündem case 2019-07-17 14:47:23   İSTANBUL- Prosecutor demanded a sentence for Özgür Gündem Newspaper Executive Editor Hüseyin Aykol and Editor in Chief Reyhan Çapan.     The 12th hearing of the case where Özgür Gündem Newspaper Co-Editor-in-Chief Hüseyin Aykol and Eren Keskin and the Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper Reyhan Çapan were tried was held in the 13th High Criminal Court of Istanbul. While the journalists did not attend the hearing, their lawyers Özcan Kılıç was present. Keskin said that the file was separated and sent to the court to be merged with the main case of Ozgur Gundem in Istanbul 23rd High Criminal Court.     COURT POSTONED     The prosecutor explaining his opinion on the merits,  the prosecutor demaneded sentence for Lütfi Yavuzaslan, Methi Kaya, Islam Tuner, Hasan Basak and Kemal Yakut and Hüseyin Aykol with the charges of "publicly provoking crime", "praising the crime and guilty", "making propaganda for an illegal organization". He also demanded that Çapan to be punished for "public incitement to commit a crime ”, "praising the crime and the criminal” and "making propaganda for the organization"     The court gave time to lawyers to prepare their opinion on the merits. The next hearing is postponed to 21 November.
