Investigation against murdered Editor in Chief of Azadiya Welat and 26 employees 2019-06-12 12:20:45 DIYARBAKIR - Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation against Editor-in-Chief Rohat Aktaş and 26 employees who were killed in the basements of Azadiya Welat newspaper in Cizre in 2016. Diyarbakır Chief Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation against Ramazan Çoban, licencee of Azadiya Welat, the only daily newspaper in Kurdish which was closed down with the decree- law No 675 during the state of emergency in 2016, Editor in Chief of the newspaper İsmail Çoban, the other Editor in Chief Rohat Aktaş who was killed in a basement in Şırnak in 2016, and 24 reporters and employees.     6 journalists and 3 former employees were summoned to Diyarbakır Anti-Terrorism (TEM) Branch Directorate for their depositions on charges of “organization propaganda” and “membership of an organization” and so on.     The fact that Rohat Aktaş, who waw murdered in the basement he took refuge in, in Şırnak with 60 more people on February 13, 2016 attracted attention.
