New bore being drilled in Basa: Nature destruction to deepen 2025-08-29 09:31:48   ŞIRNEX - The destruction of nature in the region will be further deepened with the new bore to be drilled by the chemical company "Derkim Polyurethane" in Basa district. On the other hand, it is learnt that 2 "domestic drilling" rigs have been installed in the region.    Ecological plunder started 5 years ago in Cudî, Gabar, Cilênimêja mountains and Besta, Feraşîn, Komatê and Qaşuran regions of Şirnex continues. While the ecosystem of the region is being destroyed by logging and mining exploration, new areas are being opened for plunder.    In Basa (Güçlükonak) district of Şirnex, the chemical company Derkim Poliüretan, one of the Lineer Group companies, will carry out oil exploration, extraction and storage activities by drilling new boreholes in the district borders. With this initiative, the destruction of nature in the region will deepen.   Under the name of "oil exploration and production", Derkim Polyurethane Industry and Trade Inc. is preparing to carry out drilling activities in an area of 7 thousand 961 square metres within the borders of Zivinga Hacîelî (Yağızoymak) Village in the district.    With this initiative of the company, a new process of nature plunder will be initiated in the region. According to the project file submitted to the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change, the activity in question will not only be limited to drilling, but also the infrastructure for the extraction, storage and transportation of oil will be established. "Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is not required" decision is expected for the project.   UNDER THREAT   With the realisation of the project, the habitat of many living creatures will be destroyed. The proximity of the site to the pasture areas and livelihoods of the people will pose a serious threat to the health of the people of the region. While the district in question is located at the foot of Gabar Mountain, dozens of villages in the district have been off-limits to civilians on "security" grounds since the 90s.    'DOMESTIC DRILLING RIGS' IN PLUNDER    Two new drilling rigs, "Seyit Onbaşı" and "Naim Süleymanoğlu", started drilling in Gabar. The rigs, called "domestic drilling rigs", have a drilling capacity of 5 thousand metres. These drilling rigs were established within the scope of the protocol signed between Turkish Petroleum (TPAO) and Turkish Petroleum International Inc. (TPIC).    MA / Zeynep Durgut
