No news from three prisoners sentenced to death in Iran 2025-08-24 14:16:39 NEWS CENTER - Kurdistan Human Rights Organisation announced that political prisoners Pejman Sultani (30), Eli Soran Qasimi (28) and Rojgar Begzade (42) were unlawfully transferred from Urmia Prison to Sucan General Prison.  The organisation described the transfer as "a step that directly threatens the lives of the detainees". The families have reportedly appealed to the Iranian judicial and security authorities for information on the status of their children, but have so far received no response. It was also noted that there was no news from the prison where the prisoners were transferred.    Sultani, Qasimi and Begzade were detained by Iran during the "Jin, jiyan, azadi (Woman, life, freedom)" uprising that started in 2022. It was reported that their trials were held at the Urmia Revolutionary Court without lawyers and without fair trial conditions.    The three political prisoners were sentenced to death on charges of "sedition, forming anti-government groups, conspiracy against national security and propaganda against the state", which are systematic and arbitrary charges against Kurds and other dissidents.   The Kurdistan Human Rights Organisation stressed that the transfer of the prisoners was a clear violation of human rights.
